INGLOT SINGAPORE

"Just when I thought I had it all together my make up decided to fall apart on my arrival to Singapore."

So I had a VERY long trip to Singapore, (around 24 hours to be precise) and somewhere in the world of airport luggage (Toy-Story airport vibes) my makeup bag decided it needed more cushioning than the cashmere sweaters it was wrapped in, and so, the majority of my pressed powders, eyeshadows, contour and blushers ended up falling apart when I needed them most - for FASHION WEEK.

Thank goodness on the the first day my girl Iman had my back and saved my life but THEN I received the BEST gift from Inglot Singapore. Not only did they replace my much needed broken products but almost my WHOLE make up bag.

I played around with their best sellers and created some looks for Singapore fashion week but sadly due to my packed schedule I was unable to properly photography these looks for you. So here they are, in their full recreated glory;

I ended up using this as a base for all my looks. It's the Perfect hypoallergenic primer for all skin types and makeup finishes. Absorbs excess facial oil(which I suffered from in Singapore) and scatters light, giving all skin types a matte look and silky smooth finish. I also found a substitute for my foundation during my time in singapore. This tinted moisturiser has rich moisturizing properties, adds subtle colour and evens out the skin tone. Enriched with Coenzyme Q10, saffron extract, and vitamins C, E, and F. HD pigments ensure an illuminating and soft focus effect. Perfect for those who are looking for a very natural effect of healthy, glowing, and hydrated skin.

The freedom palette is my new best friend. They come in a range of sizes and for a range of products. A magnetic layer on the bottom of the palette holds pans in place, but also allows you to rearrange and exchange each item for convenience and easy product replenishment.The unique Freedom System allows you to mix and match products and colours to make your own custom designed palette.

In my palette I have the Blush Illuminator in shade 203

You can pick combination of blush and illuminator. Matte face blush is ideal for defining selected parts of the face, while the illuminator provides delicate highlights. A silky formula enables easy application for a long-lasting fresh and subtle look.

Colour correcting Four Colour Pressed Powder shade 34.Setting, concealing baked powder. The pressed powder contains four lightly concealing colours that mixed together have the effects of :
- improving and revitalising the complexion, concealing redness and skin discolouration through light diffusers and setting make-up improving its hold. It is silky to the touch with a natural and radiant finish. It a very important component to any make up bag.

Pearl Eyeshadow shade 422 (the darker one) and Matte Eyeshadow shade  351 (which I used as a base for all my looks). Fully matte eye shadow that contains special silicones and treated pigments. It boasts high lubricity and a silky touch combined with easy, smooth, long lasting, and crease resistant application. Oil free formula provides the ideal matte finish and intense color.

Aquastic - water-based cream eye shadows will ensure a long lasting effect with a subtle or stronger shine depending on the application. Even a minimal amount provides strong coverage. Crease and smudge proof. They're available in 10 ocean shades, ranging from silvers and golds to rose, blue and green.

I LOVE these highly concentrated loose coloured powders that range from subtle to ultra-intense effects depending on application. The product contains sponge gourd oil and almost 90% pure pigment. Can be mixed with DURALINE to create liquid forms of all pigment colours.

High intensity pigmented liner provide ideal coverage. It comes in a range of rich colours, and provide vibrance and longivity after just one application. The creamy and delicate long lasting formula dries to a longlasting, smudge proof, and crease proof finish- With my busy schedule, I can vouch for that.

Maximizes the volume of the eyelashes, making them extra black with a delicate glow. The clump-free formula allows to reach a desired effect in just one sweep. Smudge proof formulation ensures the mascara will stay where it belongs, but is easily removable. The brush is the perfect size for my deep set eyes.

HD Lip Tint Matte is a trendy lip product that will provide full coverage and a silky matte finish. The product ensures a long lasting effect, does not smudge and is transfer resistant. A handy little sponge makes the lip tint easy to apply, while intense colours will compliment any makeup or skin tone. These SMELL amazing too. They're available in 10 colours, ranging from subtle nudes to classic reds and darker statement shades.

A beautiful sheer lip gloss, I love that it's presented in packaging resembling a test tube as a nod to the company’s passion for science. Vitamin E, treated pigments and breathable film formers moisturize the lips while a long lasting formula ensures longevity.

This look was out of my comfort zone because I had never experimented with colours that weren't brown hues, I had also never tried wearing eyeshadow under my eyes (as silly as that sounds) because I have huge eye lids and have always been conscious about accentuating them.

I would have never imagined I would be applying pink to my eyelids at twenty three years of age, but here I am, and here you are... watching me do it, haha. But in all honesty how amazing is this colour? I never thought I could've pulled it off but I'm completely in love with it. The lip colour was especially something I freaked out about, new favourite? I think so, I'm not quite brave enough to try the purple just yet.

I have began using these @sminkalondon brushes because my skin has been extra sensitive these past few months - even after cleaning my natural bristle brushes every week. So I decided to switch to VEGAN make up brushes since they are known to be better on the skin and for those with allergies (AKA ME). Not only are these gentle on my skin but they come in more variations and sizes which means I have everything I need. They're also not HUGE like many of the brands out there, they fit perfectly into my small makeup bag. How beautiful is the rose gold?

WEDDING IN VENICE | ACACIA LABEL

The city of love.

Back to one of my favourite cities. I was there last November with my best friends and had the time of my life (event though it wasn't at its warmest). I loved coming back for a second time even more so, although this one was short and sweet for a friends magical wedding.

I always find it SO difficult to find dresses for special occasions, so when I came across @acacialabel on Instagram it was a huge relief. They've made dresses for @DinaTokio, @aaliyah.jm and @rumena_101 among many others and their page and website is filled with inspiration.

 

I didn't really know what I wanted but I liaised with the owner- Omer who sent me a few designs to pick from and we begin to mix and match what I liked from each piece, then I left the rest to him. They literally had my dress made and posted to me within a matter of days, in perfect time for my trip.

The detailing on the dress was simply beautiful and I received a lot of compliments on it... Ps. the bride wasn't wearing white or ivory, phew.

All of their designs are tailored to your exact measurements, I'm super tall, with very long arms so this service  was especially perfect for me, plus they have a lot to choose from.

The embroidery is beautiful, there are tiny golden beads on the lace.

GEORGETTE HIJAB | VERONA-COLLECTION

I think georgette hijabs are perfect for evening wear and elegant dresses and prefer those over other fabrics, they just make an outfit look a little classier and considered. The ones from verona collection are the only ones I've found are wide enough to double up. I wore my bridesmaid shoes from my youngest sisters wedding which complimented the accent colour perfectly and my rose bouquet.

I'm writing this up in dingy England wishing I was back soaking up the sunshine in beautiful Singapore. But I have my singaporean comforts which are making life in the grey zone (aka England) a little more bearable.

Those comforts include my Pure The Label clothing. I'm honestly so so so chuffed to find something which defies the whole 'beauty is pain' concept which I seem to have lived by my whole life.

Comfort and beautiful clothing? YESSS, IT'S A REAL THING.

When in Singapore I watched the new collection of Pure walk the catwalk (see previous post here), I honestly cannot wait for the launch of the latest pieces, the navy silk two piece is especially one I have my eye on.

I asked the talented Sid - owner of Pure the Label a little about her brand;

What inspired your deisgn process for Pure The Label?
[All] women inspire me and my design process. I love looking at how they express themselves through their own unique sense of style.

What is your favourite piece from the current collection and why?
It's a tough question. I love them all when designing them. But I think that one that I would always wear is the outwear. So I guess that would be my favourite among my favourite(s).

What key values do you follow during the design process to ensure consistency?
The main values I always have in mind are simplicity and comfort. Be it in any form or shillhouette - I will always have these two values in mind.

- Comfort and simplicity - beautifully put, and I also have to mention that all of Sids designs have POCKETS! I ditched my clutch bag at Singapore Fashion weekend the evening of the show- true story.

This maxi and outerwear will be making many appearances...

I have the Plain Midi Sleeveless Dress in black - it comes in three colours. I honestly love it because its so versatile. I would also wear this with a striped top underneath or a shirt along with lace up sandals to make it casual - perfect for surviving the heat, or under a glitzy jacket for eveningwear even. It's just SO rare to find a straight cut maxi dress, which comes just above the ankles AND does NOT have a huge slit up the side or back. ALSO the other light colours are not sheer (like most high street options). LOVE LOVE this piece, I may even go as far as to say its my favourite.

Sticking to my previous blog post promises - I'm trying to be more adventurous around the hometown I was born and raised in. I shot this look at Bexhill seafront - I hadn't been back here since college even though its only ten minutes from my parents home. It's newly renovated and looking as sleek as ever.

I wore the dress with Kimono Outerwear on top which I absolutely adore. It reminds me so much of a cropped khaleeji abaya - which is something I have many of and LOVE. this works perfectly with some tailored trousers and shirt to make it a the perfect casual look.

A little behind the scenes laughter never hurt nobody...

WORKING TITLE BURGER BAR | SINGAPORE

If you've been to Singapore or live in Singapore you'll know that good food is not hard to come by (food that doesn't upset your stomach is another story haha). On Imane and Belsam's final day in singapore we decided to venture to (Working Title) Burger bar with the rest of our blogger babes to find out what all the fuss and hype was about. We heard so much about this cool indie place - its a far cry from Singapore's similarly styled five star restaurants (which once you've been to one, you'll know they all become very same-y) and it's also HALAL - which is sometimes a little hard to come by in Singapore believe it or not.

When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our seats then given these awesome paper clipped battered menus - which I LOVED. how often is it that menus are intentionally aged?

I went for the DENGEROUS - Grilled beef patty with beef dendeng, gouda, peanut butter, and satay sauce. I ordered a side of SATAY FRIES... because I have MAD love for the satay sauce. If your taste buds are yet to have this greatness trust upon them then I shall give you a quick description - Its basically a spicy-ish sauce made from roasted or ground peanuts- if you like peanut butter you'll love it. All of their burgers are made with brioche buns which add to the whole experience.

My father had the BACONATOR - Grilled beef patty with turkey bacon, lettuce, onion relish, swiss cheese, tomatoes and garlic aioli. When it arrived, you best believe he asked if he had bacon in his burger. YES pops, HALAL TURKEY BACON - how freaking amazing right? This, is what happens when you live in western society for far to long... I miss halal luxuries. He actually still talks about how this is the best burger he has ever had in his life. Wallah.

 

DESSERT PLATTER - Sweet dreams are made of these. We Spoiled ourselves with a decadent trio of desserts: CHURROS - Delightful Spanish doughnuts rolled in cinnamon sugar served with a dark chocolate dip. THE ICE-CREAM BURGER - Vanilla ice cream in a toasted brioche bun with peanut butter topped with cereal, chocolate drizzle and crushed oreos. Meaning to contunue as we started, we picked the CHOCOLATE TART to accompany our selection.

We were all far too stuffed to manage a full dessert each, so we picked a selection of the best and shared - because we all have HUGE love for each other, I wouldn't normally share sugar with anybody. Actually, who would you guys share you desserts with?
